We wrote this guide after years of stays, conversations with locals, and discoveries season after season. We only include the places we genuinely go back to — not the ones from the tourist brochures.

Anse à l'Âne
The quintessential family beach — a long stretch of fine sand facing the Îlet à Ramiers. Lined with small beach restaurants, it's the perfect spot for a lazy breakfast or a late-afternoon cocktail. The calm, sheltered waters are ideal for swimming (showers available). A short hiking trail connects Anse à l'Âne to Anse Mitan, with a few lookout points over Fort-de-France Bay. The large jetty serves water taxis to Fort-de-France and Anse Mitan.
Forêt Vatable
Set along the coastline, close to the mangrove in Baie de Génipa. The site is well equipped for picnics, with traditional open-sided shelters (carbets), as well as walkways and footpaths for a leisurely stroll.
Grande Anse (Anses d'Arlet)
Just 10 minutes from the villa. A beautiful sweeping arc of golden sand stretching between two rocky headlands. Lively with its many bars and small restaurants, it is above all renowned for the beauty of its underwater world. Along the cliffs of Cap Salomon and at the foot of Morne Champagne, snorkelling reveals treasures of gorgonians, fish and sea turtles... Several diving clubs operate here, and a hiking trail leads over Morne Champagne to the village of Anses d'Arlet. Every Sunday evening, the Ti Sable restaurant hosts its open-air concert under the stars.
Anse Noire
A gem for the adventurous — around 130 steps down to reach it. The access has to be earned, but this is the only black volcanic sand beach in the south of the island. Tucked between two cliffs in lush vegetation, the cove keeps its wild character in a quiet, unspoilt setting. The waters are usually crystal clear, making for wonderful snorkelling (sea turtles). Kayak rental available.
